EUCLID, Ohio — At Euclid Heat Treating , Calvin Bonner Jr. is part of the team, even though he still attends John Adams High School in Cleveland.
He's preparing metal parts for the furnace to harden the metal. Think of it as a modern-day blacksmith.
"Mostly just put metal parts named pioneers on rods," explained Bonner. "But other days, I would be blasting parts. I would go into shipping and receiving and just help out over there."
Bonner is one of 55 students from a dozen schools taking part in Ohio's Early College Early Career program, or ECEC. The program connects students with workforce experience at local manufacturers.
"They're absolutely contributing to the product, to the process," stated Shannon Seaber, human resources manager at Euclid Heat Treating. "They are working
