The skiing and snowboarding season is just about to kick off. Hilltop Ski Area in Anchorage is set to open this weekend with a passholder's day on Friday, and the general public is welcome on Saturday. Here at Hilltop Ski Area, they've been at it for 16 days, both making snow and grooming the slopes to get ready for opening weekend. Folks at Hilltop say that the season is already off to a better start than last year. For opening day, they've got a good amount of the slopes open. “We’ll have Caribou open, which is our standard run that we open early season, top to bottom,” said Trevor Bird with Hilltop Ski Area. “We should have King Salmon and Turkey Trenches as our easiest way down.
