INDIANAPOLIS — Millions people are expected to hit the road around Thanksgiving, including nearly two million people from Indiana .
Indiana Department of Transportation officials said drivers should anticipate the influx of cars on the road for the holiday. INDOT will lift construction restrictions for smaller projects where it is safe to do so to try to make it easier for drivers.
"Any project that we have where we can safely lift some lane closures or open things back up, we're going to do that to allow for that increased traffic," said Jordan Yaney, INDOT East Central District public relations director. "Now, there are some major projects that we have that we're not able to life those restrictions, but we're not going to do any new closures this week."
Normal construction will resume
