MADISON (WKOW) -- Fifteen shelter dogs from New Mexico have arrived in Madison to help ease overcrowding at an out-of-state shelter.
The dogs flew into Dane County Regional Airport on a chartered plane Tuesday, then were transferred to a Dane County Humane Society van and taken to the Madison shelter. Their transport was covered through a partnership with an animal-cruelty prevention program.
Another group of dogs on the same flight continued on to a shelter in Indiana.
The dogs will be available for adoption soon, and the humane society says they will be posted on its website once ready.
