AUBURN, Wash. — An Auburn man has been charged with first-degree murder after prosecutors say he called 911 to report he had strangled his wife to death while their three young children were home.

Sayed Nazir Sadat, 37, is being held on $3 million bail in the death of his wife, Geety Safat, at their Gentry Walk Apartments home.

Auburn police responded just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, to a report of a suspicious circumstance. During the 911 call, Sadat allegedly told dispatchers he had strangled his wife and that their three children — ages 6, 9 and 11 — were inside the apartment when it happened.

When officers arrived, Sadat answered the door with his hands raised. Police found his wife dead on a bed in the main bedroom.
