TOLEDO, Ohio — What began as a search for a missing 27-year-old Toledo man has turned into a murder investigation with new questions about the suspect’s past.
Malicai Calder was found dismembered inside his own work vehicle, which was being driven by 32-year-old Martel Huggins when officers stopped it, according to police and court documents. Huggins has been charged with Calder’s murder and was arraigned in court Wednesday. He is being held on a $1 million bond and is due back in court Monday.
Calder was reported missing on Nov. 22. Police located his remains three days later inside the vehicle. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
