SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Springfield is ready to kick off the holiday season in style during its upcoming tree lighting event.
Visit Springfield said the event is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Old State Capitol Plaza in Downtown Springfield.
Attendees can join Abe and Mary Lincoln, along with other characters, for free hot cocoa, cookies and caroling at 4:30 p.m.
The tree lighting countdown and lighting will take place at 5 p.m., highlighted by the jolly old elf, Santa Claus.
