DES MOINES, Iowa —
With the season’s first measurable snow slated to arrive Friday night into Saturday, the experts are urging Iowans to prep now.
A few minutes of prep today, tires, fluids, a full tank, and a winter kit can keep you out of a ditch (and out of a tow bill) this weekend. Once the snow sweeps the state, Des Moines Public Works will plow early and often, Iowa DOT is poised to scale up quickly, and local shops are standing by to pull travelers to safety.
City to prioritize routes for schools, hospitals
Des Moines Public Works says pre-treating streets will not improve driving conditions because forecasts include gusty winds and fast-falling snow that would blow treatments off the pavement.
