LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — For years, The Van, a local non-profit dedicated to taking care of the homeless community, has struggled to secure a building that they could transform into a winter weather shelter.
Fast forward to the present and things are looking up for the organization, despite a couple hiccups to open the shelter.
"We made a purchase on [the] space after about a year of chaotic searching," said Aaron Reddin, Founder and Executive Director of The Van.
It's been a lot of work and Reddin emphasized that its been quite the journey to get here.
"This is a work that we've done since before I even started The Van. We were using space in churches or community centers or the fairgrounds ... anywhere that we can find to shove people in during inclement winter weather," Reddin said.
