COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State has had two practices since the last time its head coach updated the status of his two best players.

Ryan Day has maintained every time he’s been asked that Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate were doing everything they could to get back on the field in time for the Buckeyes to play Michigan. Tate hasn’t played since Nov. 1 against Penn State, while Smith missed last week’s win over Rutgers after playing just 22 snaps against UCLA the week before.
