COLDWATER, MI — The Elks National Foundation provided $11,500 in grants this year through Coldwater Elks Lodge 1023 for local projects; many aimed at helping fight food insecurity.
The $1,000 Freedom Grant was used to purchase food and hygiene items for the "Footlocker" at the county Veterans Affairs office.
The $4,5000 Gratitude Grant was divided:
Boy Scout Troop 469 received funds to repair their aging transport van,
Teen Share purchased items for their welcome baskets, food, cleaning supplies, and money for repairs and improvements at the two cottages sponsored by Altrusa and Branch County.
The $6,000 Beacon Grant was also split.
Elks sent $4,000 to the H. C. Burnside Senior Center to help purchase fresh fruit and vegetables for Meals on Wheels and Congregate lunches. "This all
