A period of deep chill will blast the country with upward of seven inches of snow anticipated as temperatures plummet to below zero in many regions from north to south

New weather maps show the exact date the country will turn white amid a deep freeze forecast.

Upward of seven inches of snow is anticipated as the band of freezing low pressure sweeps across the UK from the northwest and moves southward. While there has been a slight boost in temperatures following last week's cold snap, the mercury is due to plummet once again.

It will usher a period of snowfall with Metdesk forecasters suggesting is most likely to begin on December 6 and that it could last for several days. The new weather maps released by the team show the white stuff making it down as far south as the Cotswold
