EWA BEACH, Hawai’i (Island News) -- The man accused of kidnapping two young girls in a car robbery at Nimitz Beach on Monday has been charged after getting arrested.

Police said 30-year-old Quentin Chandler Jr. and his two children, 7 and 3, were leaving Nimitz Beach around 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, when an unknown man approached their truck and asked for a ride.

When Chandler said no, the man shoved him to the ground and drove off with the children still inside.

Chandler was able to get into the back seat, unbuckle his children and jump out of the moving truck with them.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services treated Chandler and his daughters for injuries they sustained. They were all taken to the emergency room in serious condition.
