I find reading is the ultimate form of escapism. Every evening before I go to sleep, I pick up my Kindle and get lost in a book, as it helps my mind switch off and focus on the story I’m reading, rather than the stress everyday life brings.

Of course, reading is also an ideal distraction while commuting, sitting in a waiting room, or when there’s nothing decent on the telly. The matcha Kindle (newest gen) ticks all the boxes in terms of performance and build, as it’s fast, lightweight, stylish, and boasts an impressive battery life.

Until Black Friday 2024, I had only ever read physical books (my bookcase is surrounded by huge piles of novels), but I had my eye on a Kindle for years. I couldn’t quite justify the price of other Kindles, and I do love the feel of holding
