At least three people were buried under the snow after an avalanche struck in a popular holiday hotspot. The emergency services are now racing to rescue those buried after an avalanche occurred around 9.30 am in the area of the “Rote Piste 9”, near the Daunscharte section of the ski resort above Neustift im Stubaital.

Two people who were buried have been rescued, they have suffered minor injuries. A major search and rescue operation is underway on the Stubai Glacier in Tyrol to rescue those still trapped.
