Urban Belleville homeowners will pay more for their combined water and wastewater bills in the new year.

City council has agreed to the increase to cover water operations as well wastewater capital costs forecast over Belleville’s 10-year capital plan approved earlier this year.

Brianne MacNevin, deputy city treasurer, informed council water rates will rise 1.63 per cent while wastewater rates will rise 7.6 per cent.

“For 2026, the average residential customer using 18 cubic metres (m3) monthly will experience an increase in their combined water and wastewater bill of 5.36 per cent or $7.26 per month,” MacNevin said.
