Early on the morning of Nov. 18, Graham King was driving down Little Creek Road in Napanee when suddenly a massive cat crossed the road in front of his vehicle. Despite his shock and excitement, King had no doubt: it was a cougar.
According to Hinterland Who’s Who, the cougar is Canada’s largest wild cat, with males growing up to two metres long and weighing more than 60 kilograms. Cougars have short brown, greyish, or sometimes reddish fur, a white chest and belly, and a long tail tipped with black. (The fur of kittens is spotted for the first several months of their lives.)
