LEXINGTON, Ky. — Changes to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care will cost Kentucky millions of dollars aimed at housing homeless older adults, families and veterans.
Gov. Andy Beshear, D, said 1,200 Kentuckians are at risk of losing their housing as the Trump administration cuts the allotment of CoC funds states can receive to 30%.
“It would be devastating,” said the CEO of Welcome House, Amanda Couch.
Under the policies, Kentucky stands to lose 70% of the more than $15 million of already approved funding that supports permanent supportive housing in 118 counties. It would also negatively impact funding for rental assistance programs.
Couch said resources are already limited.
