Amid rumours of Mélanie Joly being considered for an ambassadorship in Paris, Prime Minister Mark Carney appears to be continuing his slow-motion purge of the “old guard” that served his predecessor, prime minister Justin Trudeau.
Although Joly said Wednesday she has no interest in going to France, if the rumours prove true, she would become the fourth Trudeau loyalist who hasn’t only left cabinet, but is set to leave the country entirely.
Bill Blair, the one-time defence minister under Trudeau, is reportedly being considered as the next high commissioner to the U.K.
Jonathan Wilkinson, Trudeau’s minister of natural resources, is reportedly in line for a European ambassadorial post, either in Belgium or Germany.
