Authorities say a 31-year-old Connecticut man has died after crashing his car into a utility pole in Bristol.

Jonathan Edward Whittle, of Bristol, was driving on Broad Street just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, when he drove off the road and struck the pole, authorities said. It's unclear what caused him to crash.

Bristol police were quick to the scene and found an unresponsive Whittle in the wreckage. Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived and rushed him to Bristol Health, where doctors pronounced him dead, officials said.

Authorities have notified Whittle's family.

Bristol police are investigating the cause of the crash.
