Thunder Bay will be getting the blues next summer with a new music festival that is bringing some familiar tones.

As part of its 40th season, the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium will be hosting Blues in the Ballpark at the Port Arthur Stadium, presented by IG Wealth Management.

“We were part of the (Blues Festival) from 2002 all the way to 2019,” said Andrew Edwards, acting general manager of the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. “We really felt that as part of the 40th season here at the Community Auditorium it was the right time to bring back a community event and a proven format that was really embraced by the community for years.”

The Thunder Bay Blues Festival went on hiatus in 2019 and Edwards said over the years music fans in the city have been asking for a return of the blues.
