A headteacher has been criticised following social media reports alleging he suspended a pupil for wearing Wellington boots to school.
Mike Fenwick, the head of Stokesley School in North Yorkshire, was compelled to respond to the online claims , issuing a statement in which he categorically denied the rumours.
The headteacher emphasised that pupils are expected to adhere to the school's uniform policy, which includes appropriate footwear, but insisted this particular incident was false.
In an email circulated to parents and carers, seen by Yorkshire Live, Mr Fenwick stated: "I am writing to address a recent post on social media claiming that a student was suspended from school for wearing Wellington boots to school. I can categorically inform you that this is not true.
