As the holiday season begins, the Utah Department of Public Safety reminds Utahns to buckle up — every seat, every row, every trip.

During a press conference in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, the UHP announced the deployment of an additional 230 patrol shifts during which troopers will target seat belt use over the holiday season.

Washington County Sheriff’s Sgt. Lucas Alfred told St. George News that when the holidays arrive, it is important to stay away from the “Dangerous Ds,” which include drunk driving, which kills, he said, as well as drowsy driving, which is just as dangerous.
