The finals for the Alabama High School Athletic Association flag football championships at the Super 7 at Birmingham’s Progressive Field are set following a pair of semifinal games on Wednesday.
Vestavia Hills edged Spain Park 20-19 to earn a spot in the Class 6A/7A championship against Central-Phenix City and Moody beat Boaz 28-14 to take its place in the Class 1A/5A against Montgomery Catholic.
Central and Catholic are the defending state champions and Moody lost in the 1A/5A final last season. Central won its first state title in 2023, beating Vestavia Hills 25-0. On Wednesday, Vestavia Hills beat last year’s large-school runner-up to earn a spot in the finals.
The Moody-Montgomery Catholic showdown will be a rematch from last season’s 1A/5A title game when the Knights beat the Blue
