EGANVILLE – The community was dealt another blow Monday, November 24 when it was learned the Bank of Montreal (BMO) will be closing the Eganville branch on June 19, 2026.
The news came as a shock to many in the community, especially following on the heels of the closing of The Beer Store last month and the sudden and unexpected closure of the downtown Foodmart grocery on September 24.

The closure of the bank will affect the staff of seven at the bank that has been part of the Eganville community since 1898 when the first bank established here under the banner of The Merchants Bank of Canada, which later became part of the Bank of Montreal.
