One local middle school student got the chance of a lifetime to serve as a page at the Ontario legislature.

Lorraine Holmstrom, a Grade 8 student at Académie catholique Ange-Gabriel, spent three weeks at Queen’s Park as a legislative page during the legislative sitting in the fall.

Holmstrom missed some school time while she was involved in the page program, but she gained real-world knowledge through hands-on experience that she may not have learned in the classroom.

“The MPPs were awesome, and the staff was amazing,” said Holmstrom. “Overall, it was an amazing experience, a 10 out of 10.”

Holmstrom is the first legislative page from the area in over a decade, as the majority of students who participate in the program are from the Toronto area.
