AUSTIN, Texas — A visit to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum this month offers a unique opportunity to see the faces and hear the stories of Texas families who have found a "forever home" through adoption.

The museum is hosting a new exhibit on the second floor called "Journey to Adoption: A Permanent Place to Call Home," created by the Heart Galleries of Texas. The display shines a spotlight on successful foster care and adoption journeys from across the state, bringing awareness to the ongoing need for adoptive families.

More than 5,000 children waiting

The exhibit launches during National Adoption Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness for the more than 5,000 children in Texas foster care who are still waiting for a permanent family.
