GRAND FORKS — UND freshman goaltender Jan Špunar is off to a great start to his college career.
The rookie from Olomouc, Czechia, is 4-0 with a 1.26 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage.
Prior to UND, Špunar played two seasons with the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League and one with the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the United States hockey League.
Špunar spoke to the Herald this week ahead of UND's series against Bemidji State.
Q. How have your first few months of college hockey been?
A. So far, it's awesome. Just the weather is getting worse. The team is great. The teammates are awesome. So, I don't have any problems so far.
