The LSU Tigers have made a decision on Brian Kelly’s buyout package, and let’s just say he can retire permanently and still have his family set up for generations.
After a sloppy 5-3 start to the season, the Tigers decided to relieve Brian Kelly of his duties on Oct. 26. The 64-year-old signed a 10-year deal worth $95 million in 2021, making the bold decision to leave the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after 12 years at the helm.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Kelly was filing a lawsuit against LSU with the intention of getting the entire $54 million the program owed him. As it turns out, this will be a neat exit.
In an update, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that LSU has decided to fire Kelly “without clause,” meaning he’ll get the entire $54 million owed to him:
