Eight off-piste skiers were left buried after a “substantial” avalanche occurred on the Stubai Glacier in Austria’s Tyrol region on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 27.

Per the Austrian newspaper, Der Standard , the incident occurred in an off-piste area near the Daunsharte pass at around 9 a.m. local time.
