A group of Darlington runners braved freezing temperatures to deliver toys as part of a Christmas charity drive.

The Darlo Runners ran four miles from the town centre to the Salvation Army food bank in Haughton on Wednesday (November 26) to drop off toys for children and families in need.

Leader Chloe Turner, 31, said 20 members took part in the event last night, which she branded a "great success".

The Darlington resident said: "We had twenty members who ran in freezing temperatures.

“It was very humbling to have elite runners and beginners come together as one for such a great cause.

"After creating an Amazon wish list for the members to donate presents, the club received 30 items in 24 hours.
