1DELMAR, MD – Fire investigators say three sheds were destroyed Tuesday afternoon after embers from a burn pit reignited and spread on a property in Wicomico County.
The fire broke out around 2:43 p.m. at 32949 Roy West Road, where occupants had been using a burn pit earlier in the day.
When they left the residence, they believed the fire had been completely extinguished.
Upon returning, they discovered that flames had spread to nearby sheds, fueled by dry conditions and gusting winds.
Fire crews control blaze within 20 minutes
The Delmar Fire Department responded to the one-alarm blaze with 35 firefighters, who brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced.
