ALAMOGORDO, N.M. —

Law enforcement has confirmed one person is dead following a search for a possible missing plane near Alamogordo.

According to the Alamogordo Police Department, officers were called after a caller had concerns a family member had not returned from a plane flight from the Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Alamogordo officers, the Otero County Sheriff's Office and New Mexico State Police started looking into the matter.

NMSP is now leading the investigation.

According to NMSP, the FAA provided coordinates for the plane that was reported overdue. But due to the terrain, the exact location couldn't be confirmed overnight.

Sky 7 is heading to the area today.

NMSP Search and Rescue and local law enforcement are on scene investigating.
