WATERTOWN, Mass. —
Medium Rare in Watertown, Massachusetts is helping everyone to have a safe Thanksgiving by offering to fry people's turkeys for free.
The "Free Turkey Fry" is in its 18th year overall for the chain, but Thursday marked the event's Boston-area debut.
Anyone who brings a fully thawed turkey (up to 10lbs) can have it safely fried for free by the expert chefs.
The offer stands on a first-come, first-served basis until 4 p.m.
By this point we've all seen the videos of a frozen turkey dipped into hot frying oil.
The effects can be explosive, and that's what the owners of Medium Rare want to avoid.
As a reminder if you do have to fry the turkey yourself:
The turkey MUST be thawed if you're deep frying it
Don't use too much oil
Don't fry close to your house
