Stevie Mallan hopes a long-awaited debut for Louis Lloyd can give St Johnstone a lift.
The Welsh striker, injured in training in July, is on the cusp of a playing comeback.
Lloyd was an unused substitute against Queen’s Park 10 days ago at McDiarmid Park.
He didn’t make the bench against Partick Thistle on Saturday but was part of the squad’s warm-up at Firhill.
This weekend’s Scottish Cup third-round home tie against Cove Rangers could offer Lloyd much-needed minutes. And that would please Mallan, who did plenty of his own rehab work alongside the 22-year-old striker.
The former Hibs and St Mirren schemer has just returned from two-and-a-half months out with an ankle injury.
