Aston Villa’s Europa League clash against Young Boys at Villa Park had to be temporarily suspended after away supporters clashed with police. The chaos commenced when Donyell Malen fired Unai Emery ’s side ahead.
The Villa attacker was first struck on the head by a projectile as he celebrated in the corner after breaking the deadlock in the 27th minute. Mallen was then targeted by missiles again after putting his side 2-0 up three minutes before the interval.
But before that second goal, tempers flared in the away end as away supporters clashed with police and stewards. Two people dressed head to toe in black were dragged away in handcuffs by officers.
