A TOP Labour Cabinet Secretary has fumed at her own colleagues after a leak from a private WhatsApp group revealed she had accused the budget watchdog of being “misleading”.

In comments first reported by PoliticsHome , Bridget Phillipson, the UK Education Secretary, criticised the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) for its analysis of future SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) costs.

The watchdog, in its economic and fiscal outlook published mistakenly ahead of the Budget on Wednesday, said that the SEND spending would come entirely from the Department for Education’s core schools budget.

The UK Government had said it would take the responsibility for the provision from local authorities from 2028.
