Residents in a Tacoma neighborhood no longer have to shelter in place after a construction crew hit a gas line, Tacoma Fire reported Wednesday.

Hazmat crews secured the scene at North 5th Street and North Sheridan until Puget Sound Energy repaired the gas line.

Around 3 p.m., Tacoma Fire reported that gas was no longer leaking out of the broken line. However, authorities still urged residents to be cautious.

Puget Sound Energy will remain in the neighborhood for a few hours to finish repairs.
