A preliminary 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck Thursday morning near Pacifica, according to the United States Geological Survey .

The temblor was reported at about 11:33 a.m. and centered about 1.5 miles south of Pacifica, the USGS said.

Further information was not immediately available.
