Donyell Malen and his Aston Villa teammates were hit by objects thrown by Young Boys fans after the Dutchman opened the scoring in tonight’s Europa League match.
Youri Tielemans crossed the ball for Malen , who headed Villa into the lead, with Young Boys goalkeeper Marvin Keller unable to palm the ball away.
After scoring, Malen ran toward the corner flag but was met with missiles thrown from a section of the away supporters.
He appeared to suffer a small cut to his head as a result, while Morgan Rogers lifted his shirt after seemingly being struck as well.
Villa deservedly went ahead after creating several chances before the 27th minute.
If Villa secure all three points, they will be in a strong position to achieve automatic qualification for the Europa League round
