ATHOL - The Athol Bears defeated the Mahar Senators 28-14 in a classic Thanksgiving game rivalry.
The Bears received the ball to start the game but then immediately turned it over on second down on a fumble recovery by Senators freshman Aryan Kheti on the Athol 45-yard line. Mahar did not capitalize on the turnover and punted the ball away after going three-and-out.
Athol running back Evan Ke bounced to the left side on a huge 33-yard run before being tackled at the Mahar 38. A pair of big penalties by the Senators gave the Bears great field position in the red zone at the 11-yard line.
