Two members of the National Guard are in critical condition after being shot while patrolling in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. The suspect was arrested after the “monstrous ambush-style attack,” which took place “just steps away from the White House,” according to U.S. President Donald Trump .
The shooter was identified by authorities as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal on Thursday morning.
The two victims, identified as Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24, remain in critical condition.
