BUFFALO, N.Y. — National Grid says more than 2,300 workers are battling high winds as they restore power to thousands of customers across WNY.

National Grid has mobilized internal line, field, and tree crews to assess damage and make repairs. By 11 a.m. Thursday, the company said it was able to restore power for around 45,000 of the 49,300 affected customers.

Erie County, including the City of Buffalo, Amherst, and Cheektowaga, was impacted the most/ However, outages were also reported in Niagara, Orleans, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties.

"This storm caused damage to our electric system, and, as winds persist throughout Thanksgiving Day, our crews will continue to be out there in full force to return service to customers as quickly and safely as possible." said Kyle Bentley, National
