MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — One person was killed in an early morning fire in Elm Mott, according to Elm Mott Fire Rescue.

Elm Mott Fire Rescue said crews responded to a structure fire along Mazanec Road just after midnight on Thursday, Nov. 27.

When crews arrived, they reportedly encountered a "fully involved structure with heavy fire conditions." Elm Mott Fire Rescue said multiple other agencies also responded to assist with controlling the fire.

One person died as a result of the fire, the department said. Fire Crews are reportedly remaining on the scene to extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the area is safe.

The department said the McLennan County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
