DESOTO, Texas — DeSoto city officials are working to address a sanitary sewer overflow of wastewater that took place Wednesday afternoon.

According to the city, between 200,000 and 300,000 gallons of domestic wastewater were spilled on Wednesday at Bee Branch Park near 1120 Camrose Lane and 1000 West Wintergreen Road.

The city says repairs are expected to be completed on Thursday.

City officials say the cause of the spill was the sewer main line experiencing a blockage due to a large rock restricting flow within the 12-inch line.

Cleanup efforts reportedly include removing contaminated water, collecting waste debris, and the sanitation of the immediate area.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has been notified, the city said, and crews will begin disinfecting the creek.
