Nanton’s Bomber Command Museum of Canada is attempting to raise $7.5 million for a massive expansion to its current building.

The museum, which is dedicated to commemorating Canada’s contribution to the air war in Europe during the Second World War, needs more space to house a Halifax bomber, currently being worked on at an Ontario shop, and other aircraft alongside a Lancaster bomber already on display.

The Bomber Command Museum has raised $1.5 million so far for the 25,000-square-foot expansion , including a $1-million gift from an anonymous donor whose father served during the Second World War and has visited the museum many times.

“We’re heading in the right direction,” said Karl Kjarsgaard, who heads up the museum’s expansion committee.
