INDIANAPOLIS — The run was initially dispatched as an apartment fire with entrapment, but firefighters say no one was trapped.
Units arrived on scene just six minutes later at 11:01 and saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the second floor of the building. As firefighters began their search and attack, they say there was a heavy fire in the attic.
By 11:21 a.m., firefighters had brought the blaze under control. IFD says the apartment had working smoke alarms and that all occupants were able to evacuate and were uninjured.
Eight units were affected by fire, smoke and water damage. All damaged units were occupied and IFD says eleven people, one child and two dogs were displaced as a result of the fire. IFD's victim assistance and the Red Cross are working to find shelter for the displaced
