CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The city of Canyon has entered into a funding agreement with TxDOT for its 15th Street pedestrian improvement project.

In 2022, the Canyon Downtown Master Plan Committee worked with city staff and professionals to develop a plan for downtown Canyon.

At its last commissioners meeting, Canyon announced it had applied for and been awarded funding through the Amarillo Metropolitan Planning Organization for phase one.

The project will focus on enhancing pedestrian connectivity to downtown along 15th Street.

TxDOT has an advanced funding agreement with the city and said safety is always its number one priority.
