Martin O’Neill has been thrilled to prove his wife wrong by not making a mess of the Celtic job, after he inspired the win over Feyenoord that gives the Scottish champions a good chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the Europa League .
O’Neill joked after the win in Rotterdam that his other half Geraldine had not exactly been encouraging when the opportunity came up to temporarily take the Celtic helm again, but after steering the team to five wins in six games and a first victory away in European competition for over four years, he is quietly satisfied by the fist he has made of it.
“It’s hard to say really what I thought [coming into it],” O’Neill said.
