A student was found unconscious in a washroom at Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School Thursday afternoon, according to Hamilton police.

The 17-year-old boy was transported to hospital, said Const. Trevor McKenna.

Emergency services were called to the west Mountain school around 1 p.m. Details about what happened remain unclear, including whether he experienced a medical incident.

Police are still at the scene, awaiting an update.

In a separate incident Thursday, police were called to Sherwood Secondary School on the central Mountain shortly before 11:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

However, when officers arrived, they discovered the call was unfounded, McKenna said.

Police are investigating the source of the call.
